Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television journalist, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in 1967. 1976 Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She became a Washington general correspondent with NBC News two years later. 1981 she started covering for the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during 1988's presidential debates, that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered in the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy news stories throughout time, including budget reform, tax reform as well as the Iran Contra scandal. She traveled frequently with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
